Content Review Process
At GPHCB, our commitment to excellence extends beyond education, It’s also embedded in our badge, certificate, training, and course review process. Our content review process is peer reviewed and designed to validate your scholar or team member’s understanding and mastery of Public Health and various discipline concepts. This process ensures that your course is robust and applicable. Here’s all you need to know about the content review process.
1. Application Submission
Step 1.1: Requesting parties such as, agencies or organizations, or (credentialing body, CB) interested in getting their digital badges or certificate courses certified by GPHCB must submit a detailed application. The application should include course materials, learning objectives, assessment methods, instructor qualifications, and any other relevant information. Please submit all required materials on our Cypher Learning Management System (LMS). Click this square to be brought to the Content Review Application
Step 1.2: Requesting parties must provide conformity evidence to support existence (e.g., legal entity, certification of existence documents, organization structure). Requesting parties must provide payment via ACH (electronic transfer), credit card, or PayPal. Payment details can be found on the training portal. See Step 10 for fees.
Step 1.3: After the requesting party submits all registration information, support documentation, and course materials, GPHCB assigns the requesting party a case file number and this is when the review process begins.
2. Initial Screening
Step 2.1: GPHCB reviews the application for completeness and relevance to public health education and practice. This initial screening ensures that the submitted material aligns with the board's mission and public health core competencies.
3. Content Review
Step 3.1: GPHCB assigns submitted materials to a panel of subject matter experts (SMEs) for in-depth review. The SMEs evaluate the file based on predefined criteria such as accuracy, currency of content, educational value, and alignment with public health competencies.
Step 3.2: The review panel provides feedback and recommendations for improvement, if necessary. This might include suggestions for updating content, enhancing instructional design, or improving assessment methods.
4. Pedagogical Evaluation
Step 4.1: An instructional design expert reviews the course to assess the effectiveness of the teaching strategies, engagement techniques, and learning activities. The instructional design expert evaluates the course for its effectiveness in facilitating critical thinking, learning, and skill development specifically within the context of public health education.
Step 4.2: Recommendations for pedagogical enhancements are provided to ensure that the course employs best practices in online education and adult learning principles.
5. Compliance and Accessibility Check
Step 5.1: Verify that the course complies with legal and regulatory requirements, including data privacy laws, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, (WCAG), alternative text for images, keyboard navigation, etc.. This step ensures that the course is inclusive and accessible to all learners.
6. Final Review and Decision
Step 6.1: The complete review, including content evaluation, pedagogical assessment, and compliance checks, is compiled and presented to the GPHCB for a final decision.
Step 6.2: The board deliberates on the certification based on the comprehensive review. If the course meets all criteria, the board approves the certification. If there are deficiencies, the agency or organization is given an opportunity to revise and resubmit their course for reevaluation.
7. Certification and Monitoring
Step 7.1: Upon approval, GPHCB issues a certification for the digital badge or certificate related training module(s) or online course, along with a detailed report which will include any conditions or recommendations for improvement, if applicable.
Step 7.2: Establish a monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure ongoing compliance and to assess the impact of the certified materials. This may include periodic review, learner feedback collection, and outcome analysis.
8. Recertification
Step 8.1: Set a validity period for the certification after which the agency or organization must apply for recertification. This process involves reviewing any updates or changes to the course and reassessing its alignment with current public health standards and practices. This structured process ensures a thorough and fair evaluation of digital badges and certificate courses, upholding the standards of public health education and contributing to the professional development of the field.
9. Timeframe for Review
The entire review process, from application submission to certification issuance, can typically range from 3 to 6 weeks. This timeframe may vary based on the volume of applications being processed, the complexity of the course materials submitted, and the need for any revisions or additional information requested by the review panels.
The GPHCB will communicate any delays or extensions in these time-frames to the requesting parties promptly, ensuring transparency and setting realistic expectations throughout the certification process.
